The Final Scene of our 96 mile expedition

On our last evening after walking the full West Highland Way, just the four of us remained.
We wrapped things up in Fort William with a trip to the cinema to see the latest Mission Impossible film, a fitting choice, since parts of this trek really did feel impossible!
This is my final post about the walk, and one last chance to support Mary’s Meals before I close the project on July 1st.
Not only did we complete our great challenge, we also managed to raise a few thousand pounds for an amazing charity together.
If you’ve been meaning to donate, here’s the link: https://www.marysmeals.org.uk/fundraising…
Everyone of us who participated, despite the hardships, truly loved it!
Yes, even the rain, midges, ticks and gale force winds all added to the fun! 😆
I’d recommend the walk, to anyone, but you need to be a wee bit mad to do it too!
I think it was one of the greatest adventures of my life and to be with such great friends was simply awesome.
Huge thanks to everyone who supported us along the way. You helped make every step count.

Birthday Wishes

Tomorrow I will be turning 60 years young!
I’m sure I may receive 1 or 2 well-wisher messages too (thank you in advance).
However, I’d like to ask one simple thing – can you consider this please?
I have always wanted to walk the West Highland Way, and as part of my birthday celebrations, I plan to do so starting in just 10 days’ time, with 15 dear friends from the Netherlands and the USA.
We had our last online zoom planning call last night.
The excitement levels are reaching fever pitch now!
On our great adventure, I am certain we will have lots of fun and create many new memories together.
That said, we also hope to raise some money for a great cause – Mary’s Meals, a global charity, based in Glasgow, that serves life-changing school meals to some of the world’s poorest children.
Their mission is simple but profound: “Every child deserves an education – and enough to eat.”
We have set ourselves a stretching goal to raise enough money feed 1000 children for one year.
“Impart of your substance to the poor… administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.” – Mosiah 4:26
For my birthday tomorrow, if you were planning to send me a message – thank you.
But even more meaningful would be a donation to this cause that’s so close to my heart.

And a huge thank you to those who have already donated.
With love, gratitude, and slightly sore feet in advance!

Miles that Matter – Milngavie

Yesterday, I spent some time in Milngavie, standing at the very start of the West Highland Way.
It was the warmest day of the year so far, and as I walked along the High Street, I could feel the anticipation rising.
In just eight weeks, I’ll be back there – this time with a large group of returned missionaries from Belgium and the Netherlands who are traveling from all over the world – ready to begin our 96-mile journey along this iconic route in Scotland.
We’re walking not just for the challenge, but for a cause close to our hearts: Mary’s Meals.
This charity provides life-changing meals to children in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Every penny we raise goes directly to feeding children, because each of us taking part is covering our own costs.
Yesterday gave me a glimpse of what lies ahead, and reminded me why we’re doing this.
If you haven’t donated yet and are able to support us, please do.
It makes a real difference.
